Dear mum and dad,
I'm just writing you a letter from camp ( Waipara Boys brigade) . Today i'm going kayaking ,the flying kiwi ,water slide ( and the flying fox ) and tree climbing .
I just finished all the activities and we'er having cottage pie and and beans/carrots for dinner . We have a confidence course tonight and a quiz . Our name is the bestist six ever for the quiz and were going to the confidence course soon , i'll tell you about it soon ...
The confidence course was amazing I fell over twice and banged into tree branches over and over again . After the confident course we played duck, duck goose, I was the tenth goose and before me was Abbie she tagged me to be the goose and I got her ( hahahahaha ) . She was not happy about it at all . We got to have free time in the dark under the creaky gloomy trees for about ten second then come inside . Its bed time now i'll tell you more stuff tomorrow .
Good morning , I have had a great night but the talking was annoying . We just got breakfast it was good good I had rice bubbles and peaches . I ate the rice bubbles with peaches they were soggy but delicious . We are going to the giant swing and then the raft building activity , I think the girls will win . So about the two activities the girls won the raft building activity and the boys one broke even before they got into the water . I hurt myself on the giant swing because the harness was way to tight on one of my legs .
I have had a great time at camp and spending time with my friends . I can't wait to see you guys
Love from kadince xx

Group 3 & 4 Strand Math Sample Kandice Robinson
Strand Math Sample
Level 3 Learning Outcomes:
- gain information from a variety of data displays.
- be aware of the type of data each display is appropriate for and the kind of pattern/relationship it best communicates.
- link others’ claims with the appropriateness of displays used.
WALT: Sort data into categories
Wiremu is allowed to choose a pet for his birthday. He decides to find out what pets his classmates have. He gives each classmate a blank data card, asks them to list any pets they have, and collects the cards. With a classmate, discuss Wiremu’s data. Which information is necessary? Which information is unnecessary? Which data is difficult to interpret?
Make a comment on one piece of data from above: useful / Necessary it is easier to use if you don’t no what pet to get .
Unnecessary group (why is it unnecessary?): The unnecessary date is not very helpful and you wouldn't need it .
Hard to interpret group (why is it hard to interpret?): Because I don’t know what it means about getting a pet and if it is a pet .
WALT: Interpret and communicate findings about data
The class next door did a similar survey to the one above but they were asked to name their favourite pet. The results are shown on this tally chart and then presented on the bar graph:
Write three statements that interpret the data shown above:
- More people liked dogs that guinea pigs .
- It is more likely that people like cats than dogs .
- ⅓ of the class likes cats .
Discuss with a classmate which graph (bar graph or pie graph) you would prefer to use to show the information and why? We like the pie graph but we think that the number graph is easier to read .
What is the mean of the data above? (Show your working)
What should my pet be he asked people and they said cats are more popular and guinea pigs aren't .
Personal Reflection:
I find sorting data easy if you use a graph that you read .
