Eportfolio - Term 2 Number knowledge

EPortfolio - Term 2 Number Knowledge

Achievement Objectives:
Number strategies and knowledge
• Use a range of multiplicative strategies when operating on whole numbers.
• Apply simple linear proportions, including ordering fractions.

Add pictures or evidence showing your learning of these three learning intentions and reflection upon your next steps.

--------------------

Learning Intention: Know Square Roots and Square Numbers

WALT- Use square root numbers.

Learning Intention: Know and understanding factors of numbers up 100

Learning Intention: Know and understanding multiples of numbers up 100

Reflection:
I think I did really well at my factors to 100 because it is easy.
Next time I still need to learn the big number factors because i struggle with adding on with them and that is what i want to learn.

Math goal

Add and subtracted by making equivalent fractions -

I did well at adding fractions into equivalent fractions .

I did well at managing how i worked it out in my book .

Next time I could work a bit harder on my subtracting fractions .

Group 3 & 4 Strand Math Sample Kandice Robinson

Strand Math Sample

Level 3 Learning Outcomes:
- gain information from a variety of data displays.
- be aware of the type of data each display is appropriate for and the kind of pattern/relationship it best communicates.
- link others’ claims with the appropriateness of displays used.

WALT: Sort data into categories

Wiremu is allowed to choose a pet for his birthday. He decides to find out what pets his classmates have. He gives each classmate a blank data card, asks them to list any pets they have, and collects the cards. With a classmate, discuss Wiremu’s data. Which information is necessary? Which information is unnecessary? Which data is difficult to interpret?

Make a comment on one piece of data from above: useful / Necessary it is easier to use if you don’t no what pet to get .

Unnecessary group (why is it unnecessary?): The unnecessary date is not very helpful and you wouldn't need it .

Hard to interpret group  (why is it hard to interpret?): Because I don’t know what it means about getting a pet and if it is a pet .

WALT: Interpret and communicate findings about data

The class next door did a similar survey to the one above but they were asked to name their favourite pet. The results are shown on this tally chart and then presented on the bar graph:

Write three statements that interpret the data shown above:

  1. More people liked dogs that guinea pigs .

  1.  It is more likely that people like cats than dogs .

  1.  ⅓ of the class likes cats .

Discuss with a classmate which graph (bar graph or pie graph) you would prefer to use to show the information and why? We like the pie graph but we think that the number graph is easier to read .

What is the mean of the data above? (Show your working)
What should my pet be he asked people and they said cats are more popular and guinea pigs aren't .

Personal Reflection:

I find sorting data easy if you use a graph that you read .
